Letter from the Exalted Ruler
As the newly installed Exalted Ruler, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our members, their families, and our guests. It is truly an honor to serve this lodge and to work alongside such a dedicated group of individuals who care deeply about our community and the values we represent. I look forward to a year filled with fellowship, service, and continued support for one another. Together, we can build on the traditions that make our lodge special while creating new opportunities to grow and strengthen our membership.
Thank you all for your commitment and for being part of what makes this Lodge such a wonderful place.
Sincerely,
Jean Alcala

Letter from the Leading Knight
Howdy Elks brothers and sisters!
I have been asked to introduce myself as the incoming Leading Knight by Jean. I really believe in what Elkdom stands for and I love that we do so much for youth and veterans. Here is probably more than you want to know about me.
I had my induction into Lancaster Lodge on 4/23/13 but I was introduced to Elkdom when I was a Police Explorer in High School. I received the “Youth of the Month” award from the West Covina #1996 Lodge twice. They brought us to a Lodge meeting, and gave us a $50 award and plaque. I remember it vividly. That led my parents PERS Bill and Cynthia Breham to join Elks when they retired and were looking for a way to spend their retirement. Once they joined they started an Antler Lodge (Elks Youth Group) wo which they brought my kids and I was allowed to tag along. After hanging with the kids and seeing all that Elks do, I joined too.
It wasn’t long after I joined that I became Loyal Knight to fill the empty chair. Since that position is all about Youth Activities and I was helping with the Antlers, it was a great fit. I stayed on to become Leading Knight for almost three consecutive years. I have also held the positions of Esquire and Chaplain. Also, within the lodge, I enjoyed playing cribbage and I love running Bunco nights and being on Breakfast Teams. I also published the Bulletin for 4 years. I really enjoy the tradition of Elks and the Ritual Competition.
At the Inland District level, I have held the positions of Youth Activities Chairman and Scouting Chairman.
I have several hobbies outside of Elkdom. I am a member of Santa Clarita Emblem Club #459 and am the Scoutmaster for Scouting America girl Troop #313. You may have seen them at events. I also train in Okinawa-Te Karate and love going to Fantasy and Science Fiction conventions with my fiance, Scott! Scott and I have been together for over 6 years and he is an Army Veteran and he puts up with my many commitments graciously.
There is no way to say how excited I am to be on Jean’s team. She has put together a really strong Corps of Officers and I look forward to what we can do with, and for, the Lodge in the coming year.
Sincerely.
April Barr
